Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, Godspell is a musical unlike any other. The biblical parables and stories of the life of Jesus are ingeniously told with the help of rock music that can make you dance one moment and, in the next, make you cry. John-Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz collaborated to make "the greatest story ever told" into one of the most successful musicals in theater history. Julia Kiley, a well-known actress, director and Associate Artistic Director of the Ivoryton Playhouse, will direct the production featuring a cast, including a children's chorus, from throughout Central Connecticut. Bethany Covenant Drama's productions have enjoyed acclaim from the theater community, beginning with the 2005 production of Godspell, and including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Shadowlands, and Quilters, last season's offering, also directed by Ms. Kiley.
