Through the ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church, we participate in sponsoring over 150 missionaries in 12 mission fields. In particular, we sponsor 9 missionaries. Mission’s emphasis includes visits from missionaries from various fields and special missionary speakers throughout the year.
Missions
Along with worship, education, and fellowship, Bethany Covenant Church encourages its members and friends to become actively involved in service opportunities both in the community and in the world. Here are some of the ways you can become involved in serving our neighbors, both near and far.
Missionaries We Support:
Bethany contributes to the support of missionaries serving in six (6) countries. We have a special relationship with folks who serve in France, Mexico, Japan, Ecuador, Thailand and DR Congo. In addition, we sponsor adult and intergenerational short-term mission trips. In recent years, we have sent small groups of adults and students to Ecuador, Alaska, Jamaica, Mexico, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Serve Globally (Covenant World Missions)

Ädelbrook
Through our participation in the East Coast Conference, we also contribute to a multi-site agency that provides nurture and support for children who have various forms of behavioral and developmental issues and those with autism. Ädelbrook has a full service Christian residential treatment center, special education schools and outpatient therapy programs. It was founded in 1900 in Cromwell Connecticut.
Local Relief Agencies
There are a number of local agencies we support, including the Berlin and Middletown Food Pantries, the Friendship Service Center, Hartford City Mission and the Hartford Project. We have also supported ministry on college campuses around Connecticut through InterVarsity, Cru, and Rivendell Institute at Yale.
The New England Seafarer’s Mission
Through our participation in the East Coast Conference, we share in this the oldest ministry to seafarers on the Eastern seaboard. Reaching out to seafarers in Boston harbor and other nearby ports, the mission provides needed services and invites volunteers to work in the center at the cruise terminal of Boston.
Various mission and service opportunities will likely arise during the year. If you have interest in connecting with a local outreach or would like to be part of a team for a mission trip, please reach out to one of the pastors or email the ministry leaders.
Watch for special mission events, such as visits from our missionaries. There will also be times when we collect items for our partners in ministry. You may want to help with the fundraisers for upcoming mission trips. One of our biggest events is our monthly food drive, providing food for two of our local food pantries. We also help some local families through Project Angel Tree, sponsored by Prison Fellowship, providing Christmas gifts to children of those who are in prison.
