You’ve probably heard of a classic time management parable: you’re given a jar and told to fit in a pile of big rocks, gravel, and sand. But you cannot start with the gravel and sand, because then you won’t be able to fit the big rocks. The moral, of course, is this: prioritize the biggest, most important things in your life first, and all else will fall into place more naturally.
In this series, we recognize that the biggest rock is our relationship with God, and so in order to put God first, through this season of lent we will investigate and engage in what are called “spiritual disciplines” or “spiritual practices.” A “spiritual practice” is an intentional act we use to foster our connection with God. Each emphasizes a different part of that connection, but all are helpful in making sure that big rock stays in the container as our highest priority.
